In 2018, Intercom&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2018\/03\/27\/intercom-raises-125-million-to-take-on-salesforce\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">raised<\/a>&nbsp;$125 million in funding, which brought its value up to $1.25 billion and provided the company with all the rights to call itself a unicorn. First of all, Intercom positions itself as a business messenger, the primary aim of which is to deliver modern and reliable customer communication tool.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Intercom offers:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1)&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.intercom.com\/messenger\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Business Messenger.<\/a>&nbsp;A messenger platform that helps engage customers on your website or app. It is a modern and highly customizable chat. It provides bots and chats automation features to make communication with clients more efficient. Also, Intercom\u2019s messenger can be integrated with up to 100 apps.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2)&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.intercom.com\/inbox\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">User Inbox<\/a>&nbsp;with a possibility to create separate inboxes for each team, set permissions, and add notes. Provides automation and bots to auto-route conversations to the right employees, make follow-ups faster, etc. In addition, has instruments to measure performance, which include<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&#8211; Create custom bots to qualify leads automatically.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&#8211; Auto-route conversations to the right people<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&#8211; Revenue metrics.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&#8211; Team performance metrics: response times, individual conversation volumes, booked meetings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&#8211; Analysis of conversation trends; track conversation trends with tagging and reporting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3)&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.intercom.com\/articles\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Help Center (Articles)<\/a>. Zendesk is one of the biggest players in the realm of customer support platforms. In 2016, Zendesk&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.zendesk.com\/company\/press\/zendesk-announces-third-quarter-2016-results\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported<\/a>&nbsp;that 87,000 paid customers from over 150 countries used its products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Zendesk offers:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1)&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.zendesk.com\/chat\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Chat<\/a>. Similar to Intercom\u2019s Business Messenger. Allows engaging customers via web, mobile, and messaging. Has live chat analytics to monitor customer satisfaction, employee performance. Overall, Zendesk\u2019s Chat is less customizable than Intercom\u2019s but still has all the essentials.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2)&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.zendesk.com\/support\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Support<\/a>. Combines previously active Zendesk\u2019s Inbox, which was similar to Intercom\u2019s Inbox, with a system for tracking, prioritizing, and solving customers\u2019 support tickets. In other words, places all customer support interactions in one place. It provides<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&#8211; Ticket forms. Creating multiple support request forms to quickly find out the most relevant problems of your clients.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&#8211; Service level agreements views. Easily see SLA status and breaches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&nbsp;&#8211; Multibrand. Supports up to 300 brands, regions, products, services. Similar to Intercom\u2019s Articles. It is a knowledge base to create, organize, and share articles. Has an article-suggesting bot as well.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>4)&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.zendesk.com\/talk\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Talk<\/a>. A built-in call center solution. Intercom does not have a built-in call center solution, but you can integrate Intercom with other call center software.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Packages and Prices<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Intercom\u2019s Pricing<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Intercom offers a 14-day free trial for all of its services. Also, Intercom has&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.intercom.com\/early-stage\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">a special proposition<\/a>&nbsp;for early-stage&nbsp;startups, which can get Intercom\u2019s pro products for $49\/month for up to one year.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All of the prices for Intercom\u2019s products are calculated by the following formula:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Your Price = Starting Price + Active People + Seats (i.e. agents).&nbsp;<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Additional payment per active user or seat depends on a chosen service and a plan. Even though Zendesk\u2019s site does not clearly specify the duration of the free trial, other web resources\u00a0state\u00a0that it lasts for 30 days, which is twice as long as Intercom\u2019s free trial.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Zendesk chargers per agent per month. It does not mean that Zendesk is not a sufficient Messenger platform or that Intercom is not a sufficient Helpdesk platform. In addition, the costs of Zendesk\u2019s services are slightly easier to calculate. However, regardless of whether your choice is Zendesk or Intercom, you will be spending some time trying to figure out how much you will pay for the services.&nbsp; &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As time passes by, the line between Intercom and Zendesk becomes more blurred as they try to keep up with one another and implement new features, services, and pricing policies.
