The challenge stemmed from the company’s need to maintain a reliable, scalable, and automated platform for managing payroll, taxes, and talent across multiple jurisdictions. A holistic audit was conducted to evaluate the platform’s overall condition, identify potential gaps, and deliver focused recommendations for improvement.

Scope and Objectives

Product Concept

The goal was to evaluate the product's alignment with the mission and its ability to meet the needs of the target audience. Specific attention was given to the vision, market fit, differentiation, and the clarity of the value proposition.

User Experience

The assessment focused on usability, accessibility, and design process. We aimed to evaluate how intuitive the workflows were for multiple user groups and whether the interface supported efficiency in managing complex compliance and payroll processes.

Architecture and Technology

Architecture and technology were to be evaluated with regard to documentation and design, scalability, data management, and development practices to determine whether the system could sustain growth and deliver automation at scale.

DevOps

The scope covered DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, monitoring and observability, deployment automation, and incident/fallback processes to ensure the platform supported scalable growth, continuous delivery, and operational stability.

Security and Compliance

An essential focus was placed on security and compliance, focusing on governance practices, data protection and privacy controls, application-level safeguards, and infrastructure access management to verify compliance with industry and regulatory expectations.

Project Governance

The evaluation encompassed methodology, delivery, team structure, autonomy within standards, and AI adoption to confirm that project governance provided effective oversight while allowing flexibility.

Product Quality

Product quality was to be evaluated in terms of stability and reliability, responsiveness, and error handling. We also examined how QA processes and monitoring practices influenced overall user satisfaction.
